MAP Competition Winners

GIS Day Celebration, 18th November

Let us celebrate GIS Day this year by participating in the spirit of the geospatial community to create awareness about GIS/Image Processing career opportunities, the potential of geospatial technologies, and encourage students to master indigenous geospatial products.

Due to Covid 19 pandemic, it is decided to celebrate GIS day in virtual mode by organising a webinar and a competition on the following themes related to geospatial technologies

Webinar Topic – 1 | 10am – 11am

  • Education and career opportunities in the geospatial sector.

Webinar Topic – 2 | 11am – 12pm

  • Potential and directions of geospatial technologies in the context of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India vision of our honourable Prime Minister.

Map Competition

  • To involve and recognize students from Indian universities through a national-level competition on new ideas and innovative methods to use ISRO-SGL IGiS software for creating thematic maps on various subjects.

Details of map competition

Subject Paper

  1. Technical write-up about the work (definition / purpose of the map)
  2. Data and methodology used (flowchart, data source and description)
  3. List of IGiS tools used. (This should be restricted to the actual tools used and one should not exaggerate)
  4. Screen shot of the map composition with IGiS user interface.
  5. Submit the above listed content in single .doc, .docx or .pdf file.

GIS Map Composition

  1. A map composition compiled using IGiS, showing the final outcome of the work.
  2. It should contain all the basic elements of a map.
  3. It should be exported in .jpeg, .tif or .pdf formats.
  4. The output file should have > 300 dpi resolution and < 20MB size.

 

Eligibility

  • Indian students enrolled in graduate/post graduate/PhD courses in universities/institutes/colleges
  • Participants must submit a copy of their institutional ID card
  • The entry has to be from an individual candidate, teams would be disqualified

  • Subject Paper
  • GIS Map Composition File
  • Scanned Student ID

Project Presentation

The winners (top three) will make a 10-minute presentation on their submitted maps during the webinar on November 18, .

Prizes

  • First Prize: INR 20,000/-
  • First runner up: INR 15,000/-
  • Second runner up: INR 10,000/-
  • IGiS Desktop – 1-year license to all the winners
  • Certificate of merit to winners and participation for all participants

  • Deadline for Registration: 04-NOV (1700 hrs)
  • Deadline for Submission: 10-NOV (1700 hrs)
  • Intimation to winners for presentation: 16-NOV
  • Project Presentation by winners: 18-NOV
